Three of my favorite things to do are: figure drawing, making music, and playing games--all while sipping wine and and eating fancy cheeses with like-minded creative and fun people. To that end I am opening my house in Windsor Terrace Brooklyn for a once-or-twice-a-month get-together to anyone who would like to share in these activities. Whether you are an accomplished gamer, artist, and musician, or a novice that can barely play an instrument or draw, and never played Scrabble or Boggle in your …

HAI hopes to spark a creative revolution by amateur and professional animators in a field of graphic design that evolved from still-cartoons and filmed-motion pictures so quickly most of the genre’s possibilities were left unexplored. Divergent creativity flowers when limits on length (and size/complexity) are combined with themes that encourage participation, provided the tools available make actual production and sharing quick and easy. It happened with short-form Japanese poetry as a mass par …

In today's society, popular culture is one of the few things that can bring people together into a community. But its ability to bring people together and create something truly meaningful for our lives is unleashed only when we decide to be part of creating it ourselves, not just passive consumers. Let's create a community for building our own independent culture through our own creative works based on our common interests. Illustration and manga is merely the initial medium of choice, so by no …

Creativity is an expression of life. It is a form of communication, as important as spoken language, but all too often we are cut off from this part of ourselves. We are encouraged to draw, paint and dance as children, but as adults we are told that these endeavors are secondary to more practical concerns. Nothing could be further from the truth. Our ability to transform concepts, ideas, stories or life experience into images, objects, sounds and movement is essential to a full and rich expres …
